On the road
Two routes to Utrecht
The chauffeur picks one on the day, depending on traffic. The first goes A4 to the A10, round the south of Amsterdam and onto the A2 at the Amstel interchange. The second stays further south: A4, then the A9 past Amstelveen, joining the A2 at Holendrecht.
Both end on the A2, which runs past Breukelen and Maarssen into Utrecht. It is a wide motorway, but it fills up fast at peak times.
Utrecht Centraal is the busiest station in the Netherlands. The Jaarbeurs exhibition and congress centre sits directly on its west side, and the Hoog Catharijne shopping centre and TivoliVredenburg on the east side. The old centre around the Dom has limited car access, so for an address inside the canals we stop as close as the rules allow and you walk the last few metres.
Timing and rush hour
| When | Typical drive time |
|---|---|
| Night and early morning | 30–35 min |
| Daytime, weekends | 35–50 min |
| Weekday rush 07:00–09:30 and 16:00–18:30 | 60–80 min |
On the opening morning of a big trade fair at the Jaarbeurs, expect queues around the exits near the station as well. We plan an extra 20–30 minutes on those days. The price stays the same.
Train or private transfer to Utrecht?
Direct trains run from Schiphol to Utrecht Centraal several times an hour and take about 30 minutes. The Jaarbeurs is a short walk from the platforms. For one trade fair visitor with a backpack, the train wins.
The car is worth it for other trips. A stand crew with boxes and banners fits in a Sprinter (up to 16 people). A family with a pram and four suitcases fits in a V-Class. And for Utrecht Science Park or a business park in Nieuwegein, the train means a bus or tram on top.
A taxi from the Schiphol rank to Utrecht runs on the meter for 45 km, and in the evening rush the meter keeps running while you stand still on the A2. Our price is agreed before you land. For three people in the S-Class that is €210 for the car, however long the queue near Breukelen turns out to be.
One more case: late flights. Trains between Schiphol and Utrecht run less often after midnight, and a 01:00 arrival with a tired child is not the moment to study a timetable. The chauffeur is there at any hour, at the same price.
Pick-up and drop-off
Your chauffeur waits at the Meeting Point in Schiphol Plaza with a name sign. We track the flight, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.
Going back from the Jaarbeurs at the end of a fair day, book a fixed pick-up time. Everyone leaves at once at closing time and the streets around the station get crowded, so we agree a meeting spot in advance. 15 minutes of waiting are free, then €25 per started 15 minutes.
