Private day tours from Amsterdam

Windmills, fishing villages, tulip fields or a canal village without cars. Your own car and chauffeur, your own pace

A private day tour is a chauffeured trip from your Amsterdam hotel to places such as the Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken, Keukenhof, Giethoorn, Delft and The Hague, or Rotterdam. The car and chauffeur stay with you all day and wait at every stop. We price day tours by the hour: €90 per hour in a V-Class for up to 7 people, €95 in an S-Class for up to 3, and €140 in a Sprinter for up to 16. A half-day trip to the Zaanse Schans, 20 km north of the centre, takes about 4 hours, which is €360 for the whole V-Class.

The service

Where we go and how long it takes

The places most visitors want to see are close. The Zaanse Schans, with its working windmills along the river Zaan, is 20 km from the city centre. Volendam and Marken are about the same distance to the north-east, past the polders of Waterland. Keukenhof in Lisse is 40 km south-west. The longer trips are Giethoorn, the village of canals and footbridges in Overijssel, at about 120 km, and a day in The Hague and Delft or Rotterdam.

Keukenhof is a spring trip. The gardens open for roughly eight weeks a year, from about mid-March to mid-May, and the dates change every year. Tickets are sold online with a time slot, so book those before you book the car. In April the roads around Lisse get busy, especially on weekends. We plan an early start, and the chauffeur can drive you along the flower fields between Lisse and Noordwijkerhout on the way back.

Giethoorn has no roads through the old village. The chauffeur drops you at the edge, you walk or take a boat along the canals, and the car waits until you are done. It is a long day, which is why we suggest 8 to 9 hours. In Volendam, many visitors take the ferry across to Marken. The chauffeur drives round over the dike and meets you on the other side.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Pick the places

Tell us where you want to go, how many people and how much time you have. We suggest a route and the number of hours.

  2. Get a price per car

Hourly rate times hours, VAT included. Child seats free on request.

  3. Pick-up at your hotel

The chauffeur collects you at the agreed time, usually between 08:30 and 10:00.

  4. Your pace all day

Stay longer where you like it, skip what you do not. The chauffeur adapts the route.

FAQ

Day trip questions

How much is a private day tour from Amsterdam?

It depends on the hours. A V-Class is €90 per hour for up to 7 people, so a 4-hour trip to the Zaanse Schans is €360 for the whole car, VAT included.

How far is Keukenhof from Amsterdam?

About 40 km, or 40–50 minutes by car. Keukenhof is open roughly from mid-March to mid-May. Check the exact dates for the year you travel.

Can we visit Zaanse Schans and Volendam in one day?

Yes, easily. They are about 25 minutes apart. Add Marken and plan around 6 hours in total.

Is Giethoorn worth it as a day trip?

If you have a full day, yes. It is about 120 km each way, 1h30–1h45 by car. Plan 8 to 9 hours including a boat tour.

Does the chauffeur act as a tour guide?

The chauffeur knows the routes and the places, but is not a licensed guide. For a guided tour inside a museum or in Delft, we can tell you where to book one.
