On the road
The route from Schiphol to Zuidas
From Schiphol the car joins the A4 towards Amsterdam and moves onto the A10 ring at the De Nieuwe Meer interchange. Zuidas sits right on the southern stretch of the ring, so most of the trip is motorway. A few minutes after leaving the A10 you are on Strawinskylaan.
The district is built around Amsterdam Zuid station. The World Trade Center is on the north side of the tracks. On the south side are the towers of Gustav Mahlerplein and the ABN AMRO head office on Gustav Mahlerlaan, with the big law firms and banks spread along both sides. Many buildings have a drop-off lane or a reception at street level. Tell us the building and the chauffeur stops at that door, not at the nearest corner.
Worth knowing: the Zuidasdok project is rebuilding the A10 and the station area, and it will run for years. Lanes shift and some slip roads close at night. Our chauffeurs check the closures before they set off.
Timing and rush hour
| When | Typical drive time |
|---|---|
| Night and early morning | 12–15 min |
| Daytime, weekends | 15–20 min |
| Weekday rush 07:00–09:30 and 16:00–18:30 | 25–40 min |
Most of the delay is on the A10, not on the A4. If you land at 07:30 and have a meeting at 09:00, you will make it, but there is not much room for a slow baggage belt. The price stays the same whatever the traffic.
Going the other way, a pick-up at Zuidas two and a half hours before a European departure leaves enough margin, even on a bad Friday afternoon.
Train, taxi or private transfer?
Be honest with yourself here. The train from Schiphol to Amsterdam Zuid takes about 7 minutes and runs several times an hour. If your office is next to the station and you have one bag, take the train.
A metered taxi from the rank outside Schiphol Plaza is usually cheaper than our S-Class for one person over 11 km. The car makes sense for the things around the trip: someone waiting at arrivals after a night flight, a fixed price on the invoice for your expense claim, or four colleagues with suitcases who arrive together in one V-Class instead of two taxis.
It also helps when you collect a client. Arriving in the back of a Mercedes S-Class with time to read the papers is a different start to the day than a queue at the taxi rank.
Pick-up at Schiphol, drop-off at Zuidas
Your chauffeur waits at the Meeting Point in Schiphol Plaza with a name sign. We track the flight, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.
On the way back, we wait 15 minutes free at the office door. After that, waiting costs €25 per started 15 minutes. If you have three or more meetings in one day, hourly hire from €95 per hour (minimum 3 hours) often works out cheaper than separate transfers.
